Reappropriation recipe book: ice cream that tastes like a persian (or indian) cookie
Get a bunch of vanilla ice cream. About 2 pints. Mix in about 2 tablespoons ground cardamom and 1 tablespoon orange blossom water (which you can get at an international grocery). Mix it up. Use the elbow grease!! I mixed it in a 32 oz square ziploc container so I could mash it around without sliding it around. Adjust to taste. It might not be a bad idea to go light on the cardomom and then up it if you want more.

I put it back in the freezer with no ill repercussions and ate the last bit of it two days later, still good.

I got the idea from my mom's appropriation persian ice cream. She'd mix vanilla ice cream with rose water and saffron. For bonus points, she'd freeze heavy cream into a thin sheet and break it up into cream chips. Those cream chips would get mixed into the ice cream too. Voila! Appropriation persian ice cream!

It seems like all the hip ice cream places occasionally have cardamom as a flavor these days. I don't know if they use the orange blossom water as part of it as well.

The bakery next to my place has ice cream in "Persian" flavor. It's apparently some rosewater concoction.

Also, there was an Indian ice cream place on Valencia in SF. They have similar stuff, but even more varieties.
