Enviro safe swiffer workaround

Enviro safe swiffer workaround
Originally uploaded by gleemie.

My mom does this, and today I do too because I don't own a mop but the kitchen is too gross for a regular swiffer. 1 instead of disposing swiffer sheets, I can rewash and use the towel 2 the towel is heavier duty 3 the towel is long run cheaper. snd this is better than a mop, I think, because towels are more generally usable and less tangly than mop heads.

I stopped buying the clorox mop pads a while ago, and I just use plain birdseye cloth diapers folded to size, and then use the little notches to lock them in place. I don't even use the clorox mop goo that is attached to the mop that goes through the hose, I just spray 7th Generation all-purpose cleaner on the floor and mop with that. Works great!

yeah, but you still get the swivel head action, lest anyone should ask "but then why use the swiffer (or clorox mop) at all?"

hmm, nice idea. i have one of these, which is kind of the italian sports car of mops. the refills last for a very long time (i just replaced it after three years...) i think they are cellulose / biodegradable but i am not 100% certain.

yeah, that mop would have saved me the hands and knees part where I was towel drying the floor.

My mom sewed cloth versions of Swiffer covers, which she washes and reuses. They have stretchy elastic around the edges, which keeps them on the end of the Swiffer. Pretty cool, but since I am cleaning a small apartment and wouldn't use much in the way of rags, I feel silly paying $1.00 to wash one Swiffer cover by itself in my laundry room.

I do the same thing except instead of a swiffer I use my foot. My foot is like a heavy duty Swiffer.

oh man, i bet your foot doesn't pivot and swivel like a swiffer though. Or I hope it doesn't. :)
